The Friends of Glasgow Necropolis undertake all our work in respectful consideration that the Glasgow Necropolis is still a working cemetery with over 50,000 permanent residents. As part of our work, The Friends of Glasgow Necropolis and a team of our volunteers, under the stewardship of our Archivist, are in the process developing a database of names of persons buried or commemorated in the cemetery.  So far there are over 50,000 entries in our database.

Research and Monument Photograph Service is available for those buried or commemorated within the Glasgow Necropolis.

Please note that our Research Assistance Service is solely available for burials in the Glasgow Necropolis. We do not hold burial records for the Western Necropolis, Eastern Necropolis or the Southern Necropolis. Please refer to Glasgow City Council Bereavement Services.

Research Assistance Service

Our Research Service is undertaken by our Archivist, who will search the records held by the Friends of Glasgow Necropolis and associated organisations.

In addition, upon request, we can also provide a photograph of the monument. We can also provide the transcription of the inscription where legible.
