Military Service

1914 Reid received a commission as Second Lieutenant in the 10th HLI on 29th August and was promoted Lieutenant on 19th November.

1915 The battalion went to France on 12th May and Reid was promoted Captain on 10th June. On the 25th September the 10th HLI took part in its first major action, the first day of the Battle of Loos, and was virtually annihilated.
